Peru's rich and varied heritage includes the ancient Incan capital of Cuzco and the lost city (ciudad) of Machu Picchu. The country (El país) boasts spectacular scenery, including Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake.

A growing number of visitors (visitantes) are being drawn to its variety of attractions, such as its archaelogical treasures (tesoros), the Andes mountain (montaña) range and the Amazon rainforest, which makes up about half the country (Agenda, 2011)
